Portraits of Yesterday ..

And while she gazed into the vast expanse, soaking in the dusk before night falls,
Unaware of the sand caught between her toes;  oblivious to the waves hitting her hard
She gazed and found portraits of yesterday.

First auburn, then crimson, a little azure and finally black,
even the colors of the skies chronicled a narrative;
And while she formed patterns of the clouds; oblivious to the changing contours every second,
She gazed and found portraits of yesterday.

The moon glowed in pristine beauty,
the waves lashed higher; as if to keep the rain-clouds away;
And while she carefully built her castle; oblivious of the waves and rain now colluding.
She gazed and found portraits of yesterday.

By now  the heavens were overcast;
when a strike of lightening dulled the pristine moon;
And while she hurriedly collected her shells; oblivious of the sand she had gathered along;
She looked back and realised....

She had got along those portraits of yesterday.
